All of the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers from across our District had the chance to come together to celebrate one of the key days in the Scouting Calendar – St George’s Day.
St George is the Patron Saint of Scouting because his bravery and refusal to quit were qualities Baden Powell wanted from his Scouts. We meet together on the nearest Sunday to St George’s Day to renew our Scouting promises, to parade, and to have some fun. As well as grass sledging, archery and abseiling, we brought along our coconut shy, our bouncy jousting kit and our pool noodle hockey equipment, which all proved popular.
