It’s not always clear why 1 st Pulborough & Bury has a Sea Scouts section until you visit the village in the winter and you all you can see is an inland lake. The rest of the year the Sea Scouts do spend a great deal of their time on the water, kayaking, sailing, paddleboards and building rafts. They also have a broad programme of activities including navigation, community work, field crafts and learning about the world around them. The quality of their programme can be demonstrated for example by the awarding of five Chief Scout’s Gold Awards by the District President Dave Grimwood in January to five of their number. Dave Fuller (Skip) and his team have put in years of effort – including re-shaping the programme through the Covid Lockdown – to ensure the Sea Scouts continued to fulfil the many activities needed for their prestigious awards. We are really proud of them all.
